LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION DESIGNER
& EDUCATIONAL ART

My name is alana

Hey! I am Alana Gonçalves Santana, born in Bahia, Brazil. At 8 years old, I discovered my artistic talents. Then I started using them to change people around me. In the world of tournaments like FIRST LEGO League and F1 in Schools I led my teammates using my STEAM skills, bringing prizes and honors to the institutions I was present — the episode increased 10x STEM participation in my school, instigated our students to initiate robotics, and awakened my passion for leadership. This increased my passion for leadership and started my journey at being an activist. Now I’m a communication designer and leader at Girl up, fighting for social justice to be a future social entrepreneur using art as a tool to transform and bring education for low-income people like me.

community

Community is an integral part of who I am.
Find some of which I have been part of and that I carry with great affection the memories and lessons I learned.

ATHLON 2019-2020

My FIRST robotic team. With them, I discovered my passion for robotics, teamwork, research and graphic designer. Carrying the lessons I learned with them about core values and commitment.

ATHLON 2020-2021

I had the honor to join Athlon one more time during COVID-19. I lead a new team through the pandemic situation to develop reasearch, robots programming and the hardest things during COVID-19: how to make connections besides the distance.

ATHLON 2021-2022

"With great satisfaction, I mentored an amazing team of 10 young innovators. During this time, we built bonds, teaching and learning together. It was a wonderful experience that sparked my passion for guiding the pursuit of knowledge and community development.

STAR RACING (2021-2022)

Honorably, I participated in the F1 in Schools program, leading a team with 7 colleagues. It was an intense period of experiences that made me a more prepared student to tackle challenges. We won a national competition, received numerous awards, and together, we perpetuated an impeccable legacy for Star Racing.

SESI Cheerleader team (2019)

The school spirit comes to life with the cheer squad. Creating a cheerleading team was both challenging and rewarding. Seeing an audience of over 500 people cheering and applauding together gave me the certainty that a united community is capable of achieving great feats.

SESI Student Council

Stimulating productivity and creativity in students is essential to make them innovative individuals who yield positive results for themselves and the community they live in. This was my motivation to participate in the SESI student council throughout my high school years.

SESI BA LEAGUE

The robotics delegation from Bahia stands out as a powerhouse within Brazil. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our resilience and dedication led to the attainment of numerous awards. Our success extends beyond regional recognition, encompassing national and international accolades. By upholding core values, fostering teamwork, and relentlessly pursuing excellence, our participation in this league has not only fortified my personal and professional values but has also undoubtedly influenced my fellow colleagues and mentors positively. As we continue to thrive, our commitment to excellence remains unwavering, propelling us to new heights in the field of robotics.

GIRL UP

I'm a member of this amazing organization of women dedicated to advocating for social justice and equality. In Girl Up, we're empowered to be confident in our pursuits, to bring our ideas to life, and to stand firm in our beliefs, words, and actions. Thanks to this support, I successfully launched Aliança D'art, a concept I had in the arts laboratory, with the aim of promoting the significance and application of art therapy.

Furthermore, we conduct weekly debates addressing various subjects, including climate change, the significance of women and their daily challenges, among others. With unwavering dedication, we actively sustain our national campaigns, namely "Amazônia Standing," "Your Vote Matters," and "Free to Menstruate."

OUR GIRL UP BRAZIL PROJECTS

Your Vote Matters

The #Seuvotoimporta campaign, coordinated by Girl Up - which trains young female leaders - gained notoriety by encouraging teenagers to get their voter registration card and participate in this year's vote. The group is non-partisan and works to develop skills and train young leaders. The organizers estimate that they have brought at least 45,000 users to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) website – the deadline to regularize the title is this Wednesday. In Brazil, voting is optional for teenagers aged between 16 and 18.

Young Artists Academy | AJA

I had the privilege of being chosen to partake in one of AJA's immersion programs: the Visual Arts Immersion 2023. The objective was to delve into the identity and culture of my city, necessitating me to transcend my personal confines to conceive an innovative creation reflecting the essence of Feira de Santana, my place of residence. The accolade of an honorable mention was a culmination of extensive hours dedicated to the exchange of insights with local residents, fellow AJA participants from various regions of Brazil, and the acquisition of new techniques.

Galyth

Drawing started as something I did once in a while, but then I got really into it. I decided to turn it into a hobby that eventually led me to study art and chase a career as an artist. From nifty lines to splashes of color, everything turned into art for me. I began capturing these moments while doing what I love most: drawing, painting, thinking, and creating. That's when Galyth came into the picture, not just for my own love of art but so others could enjoy it too. Additionally, I am in the process of establishing a community that advocates for diversity, equity, and social consciousness.

In addition to overseeing an illustrative channel wherein I discourse on the creative process, art fundamentals, and delve into the exploration of art history, I concurrently administer a social network to exhibit the outcomes of my artistic endeavors. It is with great pride that I affirm my commitment to constructing an inclusive, diverse, and hospitable community. This endeavor is a manifestation of my deeply held values, reflecting my values and reinforcing my ideal that art is for everything and everyone

Galyth: Empowering Education

Building upon Galyth's initial mission, a new goal emerged—to extend teaching beyond the realm of arts. This expansion is geared towards highlighting the significance and availability of fundamental education, personal growth, and creative skills for individuals with limited financial means. I'm creating digital content and resources that are freely accessible to everyone.
